The developers of Sound of Horses have announced that they will not be releasing their story in episodic chunks throughout early access. Instead, the completed story will be dropped in one package.
Sound of Horses is being developed by Vanilla Sky Productions, a team of two who worked on the original Star Stable games. The heart of the game is a story-driven, open-world horse riding adventure, giving players a cozy experience in Homeland.

The initial sales pitch for Sound of Horses was to sell each episode separately, allowing players to support the development and reveal the story over time. But Vanilla Sky Productions noted in a recent announcement that they were running into some technical difficulties while trying to complete the next episode. Namely, it was creating a large amount of extra work from testing, localization, and store updates. So, they decided to change their approach by finishing the whole game first before sharing it with players.
This will mean that the wait will, of course, be longer, but the general consensus has been rather positive. Sound of Horses carries a spirit of Star Stable Online from way-back-when, and it stands at a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam. Players are very much enjoying the game; they’ll just have to wait a little longer to get the full experience.
