“You are invited to join Unicorn Academy!”
That is the opening line for this up-and-coming magical horse game: Unicorn Academy: Island of Magic! Coming to Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, the game promises a wonderful adventure and a ton of unicorns.
Based on the Netflix show, Unicorn Academy: Island of Magic puts you in the shoes of a new unicorn rider. You will be able to create your character and your personal unicorn, and then set off to explore Unicorn Island, which is filled with secrets and magical places.
As you progress, your story will be intertwined with heroes from the show! Sophia, Ava, Layla, Isabel, Valentina, and Rory can all join your journey. Plus, you’ll be able to switch between these characters to utilize their magic in the game.
A teaser trailer was released on July 9, 2026, and shows a bright, vibrant world with pretty unicorns. Throughout the trailer, they show grooming, a wide variety of unicorn skins, clothes and dress-up, fun quests, and exploration! It is, as you may have guessed, a game directly aimed at kids, but ‘children’s’ games have been known to surprise! It could turn out to be a fun experience.
On the Steam and publisher’s page, they share a few specific features, like:
• The closer you become with your unicorn, the more you discover their powers, skills, and personality.
• Discover hidden paths of the island and the academy. Wield the elemental magic of unicorns to beat challenges and mini-games.
• Change your hair, change your clothes, change your unicorn! Freshen up your look with cool outfits and hairstyles.
However, we must also note that Aesir is the developer for this game. They’ve had hits and misses with horse games in the past. Legend of Khiimori being an example of a hit, and Horse Tales: Emerald Valley Ranch a hard miss. They could potentially make a wonderful game for players to enjoy, or they might land just off-center as before.
Still, magical horse games are quite rare. Let’s hope this one delivers!

Please be aware, there is another game called Unicorn Academy: Friendship Adventures which was created for the Nex Playground, an AI-powered console that uses motion tracking to play the game. Unicorn Academy: Island of Magic will release on console and PC.
