After much demand from players for a new roadmap, Equinox: Homecoming finally delivered on July 8 on their Steam page. The response has not exactly been thrilling. “Subdued” is a better word—more a “shrug and move on” as the promised upcoming features show little more than basic content add-ons and more horse coats.
“Hi players! We know you’ve been eager to have a roadmap or more clear plan out for the future—we hear you! For now, we hope this little summer update will bring some clarity to what the immediate future brings and what is coming up after the summer.”
From the get-go, they promise new coats (particularly grays), more clothing options for the goth-inclined, and more tack.
“Darker, goth-inspired clothing has been heavily requested and is actively being worked on!”
Horse behaviour will also be expanded. Players can look forward to horse grazing when on a patch of grass and actually running up to you when called, not just teleporting.
As for the online side of things, the developers are working on cross-server activities, making it possible to join any Crown Chase even if you’re in a low-number server. Plus, they are in the process of adding open Alderwood races, giving players more options to win tokens to purchase more items.
Finally, players can look forward to a possible release for Chapter 6.
“The next chapter is being worked on, and we are hoping to release it after summer.”
Overall, this is a small roadmap, especially when compared to the far loftier goals they set themselves during early access development.
Here is an example of the Autumn and Winter Roadmap, shared in September 2025. Not only was it well split into sections and well explained, but it was a robust and full roadmap: 20+ quests, new races, UI updates and polish, cinematics, emotes, new animations, cosmetic items, a Stylist Shop, and a new horse breed.
Player custom races are still in the works at the moment. But the amount of promised updates versus the updates they are promising now is night and day. What makes it sting a bit more is that players had already expressed concerns over the lack of focus from the team, choosing to add “horses blinking” instead of meaningful content, as an example.
To their credit, Equinox: Homecoming is being more transparent and is willing to share its future plans. Let’s hope they have something great planned for the future.
