Equestrian: The Game
Developed by Kavalri Games and launching globally in May 2022, Equestrian: The Game quickly captured the hearts of players with its realistic animations and pretty models. The game’s core focus is training horses, taking part in show-jumping and cross-country competitions, and breeding. You also have a few maps to free roam, and horses have stats and personalities to make each one feel unique! The goal of the game is to train and compete your lovely horses.
Furthermore, you can upgrade your estate, customize your character, and create your own horse at the start of the game! Picking out its breed and its beautiful coat.
The reason the game is so low on this list is because the developers have quietly stepped away from developing it further, leaving players frustrated as no foals nor dressage will be added to the game. Still, for what it offers, Equestrian: The Game is a decent one to get your horsey fix!
FEI Equestriad World Tour
Launched in 2020, FEI Equestrian World Tour is a surprisingly fun little game. Focusing on the three-part sport of eventing, the game has some decent mechanics to challenge you. Plus, Lucinda Greene’s narration and commentary gives it that official flair. Anyone who has played Lucinda Greene’s Equestrian Challenge will feel that nostalgia hit hard.
There are a plethora of breeds to choose from, and training your champions is a relaxing yet challenging endeavor. You also have a wide range of tack and customization options for your mount, so you can make your team feel unique! At its core, it’s a career-mode game, following you on your hard journey to the top of the FEI leaderboard.
Although not in-depth by any stretch—and the waiting times can get pretty tiring after a while—there is still something special about playing a game with the official FEI stamp on it and Lucinda Greene’s commentary carrying you to the finish line.
Star Equestrian
Developed by Foxie Ventures and released in 2023, Star Equestrian is an open-world MMO that includes racing, breeding, ranch customization, and a whole lot more!
It’s a magical adventure wrapped in a horse package. With show-jumping, cross-country, and the recently added dressage, there is a lot to enjoy. Plus, you have magical races that will test your skill against other players. There are tons of magical horses and coats to collect and breed, and your foals will follow you around!
The open world is pretty decent in size as well, giving you a wide area to explore and find some secrets or even some chests with loot. You can join clubs or create your own, and every week there are rewards to win depending on your rank.
The only reason it’s not higher is because of the dreaded gacha mechanic. Star Equestrian is, unfortunately, known for its pay-to-win mechanics, and this can put players off. Thankfully, you can play the game mostly for free and still have a great time with the story. But be forewarned, the grinding can be arduous, and the story is currently incomplete.
Barbie Horse Ride and Rescue
The most recent release on mobile from PikPok, Barbie Horse Ride and Rescue takes us away from the English countryside and puts us right in the middle of that Wild West scene. From saving pretty horses to taking part in quick barrel racing, this game leads with charm and follows with fun!
You can collect beautiful horse coats, build bonds with amazing horses, take part in competitions, and, of course, dress to impress! Like with most Barbie games, Barbie Horse Ride and Rescue has a ridiculous amount of clothing and fashions for you to enjoy and strut. And refining your look is most of the fun!
However, like with most mobile games, you will find sneaky microtransactions littered throughout, but there is still a good chunk of game to enjoy!
It’s a game about saving pretty horses and looking pretty while doing it. What’s not to love?
Rival Stars: Mobile
The granddaddy of horse mobile games, Rival Stars: Horse Racing Mobile was launched all the way back in 2019, and it’s still going strong. Also developed by PikPok, Rival Stars: Horse Racing is currently the most well-rounded horse game on mobile and includes:
• Breeding
• Racing
• Steeplechase
• Show-jumping
• Cross-country
• And the recently added barrel racing
The best part about the game is the genetics. The developers have taken a lot of time to ensure the genetics (although not pinpoint accurate) give players such a variety of coats that you’re probably going to be playing until 2050 before you find all the combinations. On top of that, this is a pretty game. The horse models are stunning, the story is fun, and there is a lot to enjoy and take part in.
They run a new event almost every month, so there is always something new to enjoy.
