On the weekend of May 9, 2026, Wanderlust Ranch hosted one of their most ambitious events yet: a ‘Spring Charity Weekend’ to raise money for charity.
The charity runs a streaming initiative called ‘Gamers for Giving’, where content creators can participate and raise money for programs run by Gamers Outreach. This particular event spanned two days and involved collaboration with many prominent faces in the horse gaming world, including Abigail Pinehaven, Abby Bay, Itzh4n and Pixel Wings. Aiming to raise $500, the team at Wanderlust and everyone involved smashed their goal, raising over $700 on the first day alone.
So what is Gamers for Giving? And who are Gamers Outreach?
Gamers for Giving was founded after a 16-year-old student named Zach Wigal fell ill in 2006. While stuck indoors he gained a keen interest in competitive gaming and decided to organise a Halo 2 gaming competition the following year. He even rented out his own school’s cafeteria to host the event.
Over 300 people signed up for his hometown’s first ever e-sports tournament. However, three days before the event, a local police officer shut down the planned tournament.
And from this, Gamers for Giving was born in 2008.
Advertised as a ‘competitive gaming tournament and LAN party’, it provides gamers with an opportunity to raise money for charity, all while playing video games. The subsequent planning of the new tournament led to the creation of the Gamers Outreach Foundation. They in turn recognised the need hospital patients had for bedside activities, and invented the first ‘GO Kart’ – a portable, medical-grade video game kiosk that allows children to enjoy video games without leaving their room.
As for the event itself, the wonderful crew at Wanderlust Ranch and Pixel Wings organised a fantastic event hosted on Red Dead Redemption 2. Day one was a high-energy, action-packed day with activities including trail rides, racing and also some mounted archery! Alongside the partnered creators, many members of the community joined in with the festivities, which led to a very impressive turnout of players. And thanks to the amazing generosity of the people involved, the event managed to raise $738 on the first day alone.
Day two consisted of an Oregon Trail role-play experience. Participants could enjoy a more relaxing and chilled journey, taking their beloved horses through the incredibly picturesque landscapes that Red Dead Online has to offer. Once again thanks to the awesome community contributions, be it people who took part, donated or even just tuned in for their favourite streamer on the day, the final total of donations across the weekend reached an amazing $805, with Wanderlust Ranch themselves also contributing one month’s worth of their Patreon subscriptions to the cause.
