After launching Rival Stars: Horse Racing Desktop Edition in June 2020, the developers have finally announced they are taking a step back from updating the platform for the foreseeable future.
Rival Stars has always spread its net wide, boasting mobile, VR, desktop, and console versions. But mobile always stood tallest. As a free-to-play game with microtransactions, events, and constant updates, it is no wonder they are pouring time into a platform that is generating returns. Mobile is also their go-to for updates and new features. The Friesian, gear, abilities, and even events are all exclusive to mobile, with desktop lagging behind.

Players have often voiced their frustration at the snail’s pace these features find their way to desktop, and now with the announcement, they are borderline despondent that many features will never be added.
However, others argue that PikPok, the developers, did not really need to keep updating the game after it was released on desktop six years ago. All updates were ‘free’, no DLC or extra payment required.
For now, we will have to see what the future holds for desktop and if we will ever see the Friesian in-game.
